These pages recount a trip to the Hannibal, Missouri area in the summer of 2014. Our purpose was to see family members and investigate genealogical targets-of-opportunity in the region. In particular, we’d recently learned of a great-great aunt, named Priscilla Stasey, of whom we’d not previously known. We intended to visit her grave, as well as the alleged burial site of her father, Thomas Hart Benton Stasey, and other locations where Stasey relatives had lived.

We flew to St. Louis and drove to Hannibal, arriving at Garth Woodside Mansion B&B in the early afternoon.  We attended the Mark Twain Festival down town, serendipitously in progress, enjoying local artists and crafts people. We ate at the Planters’ Café on Main Street, and went through some of the museums and amusements.   We found cousin Steve Ayers’ coffee shop and retail store.  His pottery business is one street west.
